The functional independence measure (FIM) is a key tool for assessing patients' physical independence in daily activities. Traditional FIM assessments can be burdensome for both patients and healthcare providers. To mitigate this issue, a new automated method for estimating FIM scores has been developed, utilizing a deep neural network that incorporates a spatial-temporal graph convolutional network, bidirectional long short-term memory, and an attention mechanism. This method was tested on 277 rehabilitation patients, focusing on FIM transfer and locomotion items.
