The introduction of Burst Image Quality Assessment (BuIQA) marks a significant advancement in the field of visual data processing. With a benchmark dataset comprising 7,346 burst sequences and 191,572 annotated quality scores, this new framework addresses the challenges posed by redundancy in burst images, which can lead to increased storage and transmission demands. By evaluating the task-driven quality of each frame, BuIQA provides essential insights for selecting the most relevant images, thereby enhancing the efficiency of downstream tasks. Extensive experiments across ten different scenarios have demonstrated the impressive performance of the proposed BuIQA approach, showing an improvement of 0.33 dB in tasks such as denoising and super-resolution. This unified framework not only streamlines the assessment process but also sets a new standard for future research and applications in burst imaging technology.
