Ireland is top for medtech innovation, says Stanford expert

The Allen Institute for AI (Ai2) has launched its latest large language models, Olmo 3, claiming they outperform existing open models such as Stanford's Marin and commercial models like Llama 3.1. This new generation aims to enhance performance and efficiency in AI applications.

A study by Common Sense Media and Stanford reveals that AI chatbots, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Meta AI, often fail to recognize signs of mental health conditions in users. The research indicates that these chatbots typically provide general advice rather than tailored support, raising concerns about their effectiveness in addressing mental health issues, particularly among vulnerable populations like teenagers.

A closed-door workshop led by Anthropic and Stanford brought together leading AI startups and researchers to discuss guidelines for chatbot companions, focusing particularly on their use by younger users. The meeting aimed to establish best practices to ensure safety and effectiveness in AI interactions.

LearnUpon, based in Dublin, has acquired Courseau, a German AI course creator. This acquisition is expected to enable businesses to generate content 50 times faster, enhancing the efficiency of learning and training processes.
