Avanti accused of ‘virtue signalling without virtue’ over wheelchair user art

Campaigners have criticized Avanti West Coast, a leading UK train company, for using images of wheelchair users that they claim do not accurately represent the reality of traveling with a disability. The criticism follows the unveiling of a new train livery titled 'Together We Roll,' created by digital artist Baraka Carberry, which features scenes of people and culture across the new Evero train fleet. Activists argue that the depiction of two wheelchair users does not reflect the limited availability of wheelchair spaces in standard class. Avanti West Coast operates rail links between major cities including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, and Scotland, and the Evero train is noted for its reduced carbon emissions compared to older models.
