UN extends peacekeeping mission in disputed Abyei region for another year

The United Nations has extended its peacekeeping mission in the disputed Abyei region for another year. The decision was made by the Security Council, which stated that any further extensions of the mission would depend on tangible progress in negotiations between Sudan and South Sudan.
