Russia increasingly targeting trains as attacks on Ukraine’s rail network intensify

Ukraine has reported over 800 attacks on its railway system since the beginning of 2025, with a significant increase noted since July. Oleksii Kuleba, the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for infrastructure, stated that these attacks are part of Moscow's efforts to undermine Ukraine's logistical capabilities. The damage caused by these assaults has reached approximately $1 billion (£760 million).
