Wildfire near two Ontario First Nations ‘like a sleeping giant’ for now, MPP says
A huge wildfire near Sandy Lake in Ontario is being described as "like a sleeping giant" by MPP Sol Mamakwa, hinting at its unpredictable danger. So far, over 2,000 people have been forced to evacuate as the blaze—dubbed Red Lake 12—has ballooned to more than 160,000 hectares. While it’s not currently advancing aggressively, the comparison to a "sleeping giant" suggests the threat is far from over.
