‘We all need someone’: the hairdressers tackling stigma of mental heath issues in west Africa

In West Africa, particularly in Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and Togo, where mental health services are scarce, hairdressers are stepping up to fill the gap. These stylists are being trained to provide emotional support, listen, and guide their clients through mental health challenges. This initiative is significant as it not only helps destigmatize mental health issues but also creates a safe space for individuals to express their feelings, fostering a community of care and understanding.
